How to Choose the Best Business Laptops

When shopping for a business laptop, think first about what you or your employees will use it for. Whether that’s typing up spreadsheets, streaming a presentation to a projector in the boardroom, or editing photos on the go, the right device can do it all.

Best business laptops tend to be pricier than mainstream laptops, but often offer better value in return, with features like faster processors and marathon battery life. And since they’re easier to upgrade and repair, they can deliver more long-term value for the money.

Some models, like the HP EliteBook Ultra G1i AI, have specialized features that appeal to enterprise users. That includes Intel vPro technology that lets IT support people log in remotely, even if the laptop doesn’t boot. But unless you have a big IT department with a fleet of these kinds of laptops, you’ll probably find it unnecessary to pay extra for that feature.

Other business laptops, like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12, have no such extras, but their fast Intel processors and bright, colorful displays more than compensate. They’re also a good choice if you need to run a mix of business- and creative apps that require powerful GPUs.

Meanwhile, Apple’s new MacBook Air M3 is a great choice for business travelers, with its ultrathin design, long-lasting battery life, and excellent performance. Just keep in mind that it’s limited by USB-C ports and isn’t as easy to repair as some of our other favorites.
